So we’re learning about making websites in my Multimedia Writing class. It made me feel guilty that I have a pretty great website that I don’t do anything with. So I’m gonna try to do more. Promise.
- skin on skin and skin on skin again
Who do I post these videos for?
- $5 Cover
A friend of mine worked on this MTV show called $5 Cover, which is one of the most interesting things I’ve seen from MTV in maybe forever. This guy kind of stole the first episode:
- its almost sumsumsummertime.
Only a week and a half left.
So school is almost over and I am done with “I Think I Fucked A Vampire.” It won the Viewer’s Choice at the DCC contest, which was awesome. Right now I’m just glad I don’t have to watch it many more times. I’m proud of it, but I’ve seen it hundreds of times and it’ll be nice to have some distance so I can look back and enjoy it.
This summer I’ll make more things if I can manage. What’s weird is now that I made something not terrible people want to do things with me. I guess that’s not weird, but it feels strange. I’m looking forward to helping people make things almost as much as I am making something else.
I should update this more, maybe. No on reads it but its nice to write in.
- The Internet Is Talking About Me!
Or, more specifically, “I Think I Fucked A Vampire.”
View Askew Message Board
Angry Naked Pat Board
Rotten Tomatoes Board - I didn’t start this one, it was weird to see. Some people don’t like it and its awesome.
Indy Mogul
GeekScape Podcast Board
SomethingAwful 1 - Very few people dug it here. Can’t see this one, since the registration is $10 for some insane reason.
Zuglife Boards (I think its a Wow Thing)
German Forum - This one’s in German, it says “Not super funny but played fairly realistic.”
Something Awful 2 - Lots of hits, lots of fat jokes, lots of mean internet folks. A couple good points.
Blog of a Vampire Fan- Someone who saw it on Twitter and was nice enough to post about it.
Saddle Creek Boards - Hipsters being too hip. Some people had nice things to say and most of the bad things they said weren’t unfounded.
TheScreenrider.com - Nice mention on Brad’s blog. There might be more but this is all I can find right now. It’s pretty neat seeing people you don’t know talk about things you did on the internet. The mean stuff is interesting, especially when I was compared negatively to Kevin Smith or Judd Apatow. Those were hard to take as insults. The ones that hurt the most were the note about trying too hard. Because I always am. The comments about me not knowing what I was doing were fair because I didn’t really - none of us did. Its hard to argue with the people who didn’t think it was funny because its really not for everyone. There are tons of stupid jokes and cussing. I understand. All and all it was a neat experience.
- SPRING BREAK
I somehow got talked into spending Spring Break in smaller town than the one I come from. In a cabin. With no internet. Awesome.
Today I’m in Lebanon, though. Bored and catching up on House. I am also Twittering more than is absolutely necessary.
- new house
I think after five months of searching we’ve found a place where we’re going to live next year. More as it develops.
- tv
I’ve actually done events at radio stations where I feel like I’ve had to give a little talk in behalf of television as a medium. I wanna say to them, “I’m somebody who didn’t own a television for 15 years. I didn’t watch TV from the time I was 18 ’til my mid-30s. And then I got a TV to watch The Sopranos.” I realized, “Oh, TV is really interesting.” TV has never been better. Someday, we’re gonna look back on this period as this golden age of experimentation, where the networks started dying, and the cable channels started proliferating, and there are so many channels that to get our attention, programmers had to try everything, including quality.
